CK Connect Celebration Event

On the 23rd of March 2017 we had our celebration of a project called CK Connect which has ran for the last 5 years.

This project helped people with learning difficulties aged 16 to 30 year olds learn about internet safety and social media.

CKConnect peer educators created learning materials and workshops and went to different colleges to work with students.

At our event was held at West Brewery and was attended by our guests from colleges, peer educator families, other third sector organisations and funders.

We opened up with Nikki Sully, our Senior Development Worker, giving a welcome. Marilyn Slavin, our Operational director, introduced CKUK, after which Gordon Jennings, the CKConnect development worker, stepped up for his overview of the project, training and recruitment.

We also had speeches from our project Peer Educators Lesley, Liam, David, Jade, Malcolm and Wesley, which explained more about how the project worked.

Iain Elliott also gave a speech about his journey from a peer educator to CKUK employee, which included the film “iLove”.

Peer Educators also received their Saltire Awards for their amazing amount of volunteering work in this project.

The event closed with Marilyn thanking everyone.

We thank everyone for attending this celebration of such an amazing project.
